When Robert Dumas, Émile Hermès’ son-in-law, created the Sac à dépêches-style ladies’ bag with straps in the 1930s, the Maison entered an era of boldness and modernity. Yet its story did not end there. All it took was a photograph of Grace Kelly, using the bag to conceal the curves of her pregnancy, for it to become legendary. The Kelly was born.
